The International Public Sector Accounting Standards Board has announced that from January 1, 2022, most of its seats will be reserved for the females: ten women versus eight men.

In addition, the IPSASB is proud to share its advances in improving inclusiveness by expanding its geographical diversity: it now includes members from China and Saudi Arabia. Two of the four new members of the IPSASB are from Switzerland and Germany. Representatives of the Philippines and the United Kingdom were re-elected for a second term.

The new appointments were made as part of a rigorous process involving a special committee and IOSASB leadership under the supervision of the Public Interest Committee.

“The IPSASB is leading the way with a majority female Board for 2022,” said Ian Carruthers, IPSASB Chair. “Diversity of Board membership is essential to ensure the delivery of high-quality standards that can strengthen public financial management globally. The appointment of new members from the Asia and Middle East regions will also be important to ensuring that our outputs meet the needs of an increasingly diverse group of users.”
